About the Sole Proprietor of PEN in HAND Services

Hello! I am Kimberly Laughlin, the sole proprietor of PEN in HAND Services, an all-inclusive company, that includes three main divisions:

Resume Services, Editing, and Tax Preparation

In a Nutshell...

I am currently a:

   • Resume Writer, Editor, and Reviser

   • Document Editor

   • Book Manuscript Editor - Line Editor, Copy Editor, and Copy Formatter

   • Simple Tax Preparer and Filer in the process of certification for more complex tax returns.

   • Graphic Designer and Visual Artist

     ~ I am currently building a Shopify website store for my e-card company (Kimberly's Graphic E-Cards).

I also have special accomplishments to show for since 2023.

AND: I was a contributing editor to a published novel and my Resume Services by PEN in HAND went International.

My Background

I was born and raised in "colorful" Colorado, lived in SE Oklahoma for about ten years, and now live and work remotely in "sunny" Saint Petersburg, Florida.

My Timeline (click to view):

After growing up in Colorado and having two children:

 - I ended up living in Oklahoma for about ten years with my children until they each found a spouse and moved to another state.

 - I then moved to Florida in 2019 to live with my sister. She had lost her husband, who passed away a year before that.

 - COVID came along, so I had already lost the first job I got here, but a few months later, I went back to waiting tables, which I always loved, because I love waiting on people.

 - I ended up deciding I wanted to do so much more—work from home and use my skills to do something more rewarding by helping whoever I could with those skills. I learned about a proofreading course I could take that intrigued me because I always thought I could be an editor.

 - Certain things in my life happened, so I had not become an editor until I took the proofreading course, passed it with flying colors, received a certificate, and then had a GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY to prove I could do so much more, which was:

Line Editing / Proofreading, Copy Editing (Copyediting), and Copy Formatting for an author getting ready to self-publish his first novel, in addition to assisting numerous job seekers with their Resumes, and last, but not least, Graphic Design - designing all of my own ads, logos, and banners to help promote my business, which I have done all myself. Graphic Design has always been a passion and hobby of mine. In fact, I received Nextdoor's 2024 Visual Artist Award.

I also write and design Wedding and Special Occasion Invitations, as well as write and design Predesigned and Custom-Designed E-Cards for all occasions and holidays.

Meanwhile, I have added a Tax Preparation division to my company since I also have a lifetime's experience assisting people with their tax returns.

What am I doing now?

I am now a professional Resume Writer and Reviser, Document and Book Editor, as well as a Tax Preparer and Filer, and Graphic Designer, helping all sorts of people with their lives and businesses, while also being affordable, which is very important to me, because I want to help people. I work extremely hard all the time, but I am loving what I do!

Like I said on my home page, you probably know the saying, “Jack of all trades, master of none,” but no matter which service I am called to do, my clients praise me for my excellent work, professionalism, and caring attitude, among other things that they very much appreciate. Of course, anyone can claim all this, but all I know is that I hear it all the time, and it makes me love my job all the more.

   ⁓ My UNITED STATES of AMERICA with all of my heart!!! And I am proud to say it.

I am extremely patriotic, and I am thankful to all who are or have been in service to defend our freedom.
